It’s been a minute…

It’s been a while since I properly picked up my camera without a reason, without a plan or without thinking about content. Just me, the camera, and whatever happens in front of me.

Winter has a way of slowing everything down. The days feel shorter, the light feels heavier, and if I’m honest, motivation takes a bit of a hit too. I’ve still been shooting here and there, but not in that way I enjoy most — just wandering, observing, letting moments find me rather than chasing them.

But spring… spring feels different.

There’s something about this time of year that resets things. The light softens, the colours come back, and the world just feels a bit more alive again. You notice the small things more — longer evenings, people lingering outside, that first bit of warmth in the air that makes you think, yeah, I’ve missed this.

And it’s got me thinking — I need to get out more.

Not for YouTube. Not for social media. Not even for a specific goal. Just to shoot again for the sake of it. That’s when it’s always been at its best for me anyway. No pressure, no expectations — just documenting what feels interesting in the moment.

Street photography has always been about connection for me. Not necessarily with people directly, but with the environment, the atmosphere, the feeling of a place at a specific point in time. And spring gives you so much of that to work with — the contrast of light and shadow, the movement, the unpredictability.

I can already picture it — heading out with no real destination, camera in hand, just seeing what unfolds. Maybe it’s a quiet street catching that perfect bit of evening light. Maybe it’s a fleeting expression or a small interaction that most people would walk straight past. Those are the moments I’ve missed.

So yeah… it’s been a minute.

But that’s about to change.

Time to get back out there, but where should I go?

I would love to get some ideas, comment with your favourite places.
